One of those little things that help make Windows 7 one of the most user oriented OS’s to come out of Redmond yet – the logon screen can be changed without any 3rd party software allowing more customisation straight out of the box. It’s small, but it’s nice to know Microsoft added it in.<\/p>\n

1. Click Start, type Regedit.exe<\/strong> and press ENTER:<\/p>\n

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Authentication LogonUI Background<\/div>\n

2. Create a new DWORD value named OEMBackground<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Double-click OEMBackground<\/strong> and set 1<\/strong> as its value data.<\/p>\n

4. Exit the Registry Editor.<\/p>\n

Next step is to place the background wallpaper (JPEG file) in the following folder:<\/p>\n

C:WindowsSystem32oobeinfobackgrounds<\/div>\n

Note that the info<\/strong> folder doesn\u2019t exist by default. You need to create the info<\/strong> and backgrounds<\/strong> folders manually.<\/em><\/p>\n

Place the background image file (name it as backgroundDefault.jpg<\/strong>) into the above folder.<\/p>\n
