The next time anyone mentions\u00a0anything to do with America and refusing to accept gay marriage, straight marriage or any marriage between two people – particularly those people\u00a0in government jobs, please just point them to the first amendment page on\u00a0Wikipedia<\/a> and quote:<\/p>\n

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Or in modern English:<\/p>\n

The “establishment of religion” clause of the First Amendment means at least this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church. Neither can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion to another … in the words of Jefferson, the [First Amendment] clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect ‘a wall of separation between church and State’ … That wall must be kept high and impregnable. We could not approve the slightest breach<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, for example, anyone who says marriage is between a man and woman in the eyes of God are going against the first amendment of the country they will undoubtedly spout they stand for. Not all religions agree with that statement: if the US government agreed with it, they’d be rejecting some world religions and thus breaking the first amendment. It’s not rocket science!<\/p>\n

People are of course welcome to still spout nonsense such as this…provided they\u00a0reject the entire principles on which America was formed. Don’t try and do both though, you’ll just look really stupid!<\/p>\n

If you a\u00a0truly<\/strong> American you would not fight the Supreme Courts ruling on same-sex marriage because you’d know they stood up for America and the foundations for which it stands.
