HTC Vive – Home user with a room to use review

When I found out the world was finally going to get at home VR I got myself signed right up on the pre-orders for the Vive: my thoughts were simple, if I was going to spend money on VR I wanted to be able to move around in a virtual world, not just my head…a rather easy justification for a geek to persuade themselves to shell out over £550 for a headset. This decision has turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever made when it comes to gaming on the PC, absolutely nothing compares to not just … Continue reading

Donald Trump mistakes 9/11 for 7-Eleven

Donald Trump is always there to provide amusement. His most recent outing is him reminiscing about 9/11 and the people there; however in his mind I think he was shopping for cheeto’s to mind up and recover his face with. I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen, down on 7-11, down at the World Trade Center, right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action… I saw the bravest people I’ve ever seen, including the construction workers, including every person down there. You can see a clip here: … Continue reading

Canada Legalises Assisted Suicide

In what will surely spark controversy and complaints around the world, Canada has just become the latest country to allow assisted suicide from a doctor for those who are terminally ill or in severe pain and will be for the rest of their lives. On Thursday, 14th April, 2016, Justin Trudeau introduced legislation to move forward with the legalisation of assisted suicide. The bill takes care to exclude visitors who wish to die – the rather aptly named “suicide tourism”. It also excludes those who are mentally incapable of making a rational decision, another logical decision. Under the terms of the … Continue reading

Useful tidbits for Raspberry pi users on Raspian – aka things I wish I knew quicker/easier

I love my Pi2 and my Pi3, they’re amazing pieces of cheap kit I can do anything with – although to be honest I don’t use them anywhere near as much as I should. So here is a compilation of things I found useful this last week when I finally got around to building my Pi3 installation for my house-wide audio system / automation. Update your firmware Just get this done right at the start. sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update Be sure to restart after it’s done (sudo shutdown -r now) Disable onboard audio (useful if you want to use USB only … Continue reading
