Canada Legalises Assisted Suicide

In what will surely spark controversy and complaints around the world, Canada has just become the latest country to allow assisted suicide from a doctor for those who are terminally ill or in severe pain and will be for the rest of their lives. On Thursday, 14th April, 2016, Justin Trudeau introduced legislation to move forward with the legalisation of assisted suicide. The bill takes care to exclude visitors who wish to die – the rather aptly named “suicide tourism”. It also excludes those who are mentally incapable of making a rational decision, another logical decision. Under the terms of the … Continue reading

The Crystal Maze is Back – and it’s for all of us!

In what may be one of the happiest events of my life, The Crystal Maze will be back in a format for everyone to enjoy! At the moment there is a funding event on Indiegogo with a rather easy target of £500,000 – at the moment of writing this, just 8 hours in from the midnight launch, it is over £63,000 – so I doubt very much this won’t happen. Quoting from the site: You’ll get to play the maze just as contestants did on the original show – placing you at the centre of the action. What we really want, … Continue reading

Massive Anthem health insurance hack exposes millions of customers’ details

Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield office in Denver. Andrew Williams (KMGH-TV) Well as far as hacks go, this is pretty amazing and if they are right and millions of customers have had their name, address, DoB, and social security numbers stolen, a lot of people could find themselves being impersonated over the coming months or even years. It’s all you really need to make a company believe you are who you are not! The attackers stole names, addresses, birthdays and social security numbers of customers from every one of Anthem’s business units. So far, Anthem has not said how many records were … Continue reading

Texas boy suspended after bringing ‘ring of power’ to school – NY Daily News

Tolkien lore led a Texas boy to suspension after he brought his “one ring” to school. Kermit Elementary School officials called it a threat when the 9-year-old boy, Aiden Steward, in a playful act of make-believe, told a classmate he could make him disappear with a ring forged in fictional Middle Earth’s Mount Doom. “It sounded unbelievable,” the boy’s father, Jason Steward, told the Daily News. He insists his son “didn’t mean anything by it.” The Stewards had just watched “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” days earlier, inspiring Aiden’s imagination and leading him to proclaim that he had … Continue reading

Photo of Ant Holding 500 times its own Bodyweight

This amazing picture of an ant holding its own bodyweight while upside down was taken by zoology specialist Dr Thomas Endlein of Cambridge University while researching creatures sticky feet. This photo snatched the guy £700 in photographic vouchers from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. His hope is studying the way ants feet self clean and change their size to support varying weights will help develop new adhesives. “The pads on ants’ feet are self-cleaning and can stick to almost any type of surface,” he said. “No man-made glue or adhesive system can match this. Understanding how animals can … Continue reading

Federal Court to determine constitutional legality of gay marriage

It seems like it’s taken a long time for someone in the States to get up and do it, but someone seems to finally be ready to stand up in court and challenge the legality of banning same-sex marriage on a nationwide scale. The result of this trial should finally end the confusion the USA has had in it’s divided states. If it is voted unconstitutional to ban the marriage of two people of the same sex, any state that currently denies it will no longer be able to, effectively ending one of the biggest remaining prejudices in the States; … Continue reading
