Google Maps – now with Timeline

In what I can cool but many will call scary, Google has released Timeline which basically allows you to stalk yourself, quoting from the announcement on the Google blog:

Have you ever wanted a way to easily remember all the places you’ve been — whether it’s a museum you visited during your last vacation or that fun bar you stumbled upon a few months ago? Well, starting today, Google Maps can help.

timelineMost of us will know Google has had location history on its devices for a long time now and you’ve been able to view where you’ve been, Timeline just makes the process cleaner, easier to use and, the feature I found most interesting, includes photos you take where you take them (see image to the right, for reference the weird image is a tasty treat I found that I got 3 of for 89cents and were HUGE).

For the privacy worriers who left location history on, don’t worry, this is only visible to you (and Google) so your friends can’t start seeing where you’ve been.

I’m off to check out my holidays and do what Google suggest: “resurface my memories”.
